STEEL TARGETS IN HANDGUN BAYS

Unfortunately due to the actions of some club members, steel targets are being removed from the handgun bays. On numerous occasions club members have been caught using rifle calibers on the handgun bays. Notifications were made via the newsletter and on the gun club website to let members know what can and cannot be used on the handgun bays. New signs were posted on each handgun bay with specific rules for the given bays. Yet even after that, some members continued to disobey the rules of the range and shoot the steel in the handgun bays with rifle ammo.

Rifle rated steel targets are rated at 100 yards; not the distances the targets are placed within the handgun bays. Shooting rifle caliber ammunition that close will dimple and pit the steel causing it to weaken and become unsafe, sending shrapnel back to the shooter.

Because of the continued disregard for the range rules, until such time that card readers are placed at the gate entrance and cameras are positioned on each bay by Panteao Studios, the steel targets placed on the handgun bays are being removed. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes the club members that have followed the rules of the range.
